Membership

Anyone who lives in the Ester Fire Service District may become a member of the E.C.A. Annual membership is $7.50 per person or $15 per household, due at the fall meeting in order to participate in elections, or payable any time of the year to enjoy other membership privileges like community hall rental.

General membership meetings are held biannually in October and April. During the fall meeting, elections are held for the corporate officer positions, (with the president assuming the honorary title of Mayor of Ester), and the five-person Board of Directors that oversee operations throughout the year.

Members have the satisfaction of knowing they are taking an active part in the shaping and maintenance of their community. The community association:

  • maintains a hall for use for parties, classes, events, and meetings
  • instigated and maintains the Ester Community Park
  • maintains the Ester Well
  • organizes fun community events such as the Chili Feed and Stone Soup & caroling
  • provides a little help to victims of a burnout in the immediate aftermath of a fire
  • supports a local library
  • works for rational & sustainable community planning
