The Second Annual Library Lallapalooza and Book Bash was a wowser! Thanks for all the help! The 2nd lallapalooza outdid the first, with almost $6,000 raised in cash and another $15,000 in in-kind construction donations! Location: The Annex Date: Sunday, March 26, 2006 Events: Silent auctions, a Garden Party fashion show, musical and dance performances, and a fundraiser lasagne potluck Entertainment The entertainment was wonderful! many thanks to the groups and performers: Isaac Paris, who started us off in the early afternoon with some great experimental music and lyrics; the Esteroids, who played some lovely folk music; Tamami Smith, who played some beautiful piano pieces with finesse and sensitivity; Noor Shimaal Middle Eastern Dance Troupe danced gracefully and sensuously for the lallapaloozers; Musical Rumors, a jazz choir who gave us a stunning debut performance; and last, The Muldoonies got the crowd dancing with some bouncy, foot-stomping ska!
- the Garden Party fashion show was delayed a little bit, but oh, it was worth the wait! Amy Luick and more than a dozen models displayed a collection of visqueen creations suitable for use in the garden and at high fashion events! Models included Maggie Billington, Nancy Burnham, Bill Cullen, Rio Geiger, Amy Reid Geiger, Judie Gumm, Deirdre Helfferich, Dave Hyland, Tinker Lowe, Maia Luick, Hans Mölders, Sheryl Maree Reily, Sheila, Gabriella Smith, and Summer Anderson. Photos of the dresses and kilts will be posted soon!
We are so successful we're running out of room! Your local library is growing rapidly, and we desperately need a new building to hold all the books and videos. The lallapalooza raised even more money than last year so we have a chance at matching grants. If you have suggestions for how we can do the lallapalooza better next year, let us know! Call 479-3368 or e-mail library [ at] esterrepublic.com. Food and Drink Many volunteers dontated desserts, lasagnes, salad, french bread, and beverages to the lasagne feed, and then even more helped to serve lasagne to the hungry crowds. Many thanks to Ritchie and Monique Musick, Maggie Billington, Margaret and Jeff Rogers, Jean Lester, Denise Akert-Mohr, LJ Evans, Carla Helfferich, Lois Sala, Lisa Sporleder, Amy Simpson, Marcia Tangermann, Mindy Gallagher, Phil Carboy at Gold Hill Liquor & Gas, and all the others who helped with the lasagne feed.

In-kind Contributions To construct the new building, we will need materials, labor, and people who know how to operate heavy equipment. If you are a tradesman or contractor, you can help build the new library and help us convince granting agencies that we are serious and worth funding! We will need a written agreement to provide in-kind contributions (services or materials, in the amount you wish to provide) that we can then show to grant agencies as evidence of serious intent, community interest, and the library's ability to follow the project through to completion. This will also help us plan the actual construction. The library is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) corporation, which may help out your business come tax time.
Cash Donations The library accepts cash donations (check or cash) any time of the year. However, the lallapalooza makes a convenient time for benefactors to demonstrate their support and thus encourage others to help too.
Volunteers Numerous volunteers made the lallapalooza possible. In addition to the lasagne makers & servers, lots of people generously gave their time to the fundraiser: Kate Billington, Nancy Burnham, LJ Evans, Judie Gumm, Mary Haley, Deirdre Helfferich, Hannah Hill, Diane Hunt, Dave Ledoux, Hans Mölders, JD Ragan, Debbie Rimer, Jeff & Margaret & Oliver Rogers. MANY MANY THANKS!
