2) www.davebarry.com

Dave Barry is one of our country’s most accomplished wits and satirical commentators of our daily existence in the U.S.of A. Mr. Barry has been a writer/columnist-in-residence at the Miami Herald newspaper since 1983. In 1988 he won the Pulitzer prize for Commentary." Mr. Barry writes about various major issues relating to the international economy, the future of democracy, our social infrastructure, and exploding toilets." Barry's website has many links to his books, essays, and audio tapes. Some of these include his Cyberdave Random House site and updates regarding his ersatz rock & roll band, the Rock Bottom Remainders. The site also carries a list of all his most recent and popular columns, either in text or audio files if you have the correct software. The articles are hilarious for the most part. They range from commentary on Bill Clinton's escapades to "the stealth sparrow that hit Fabio in the kisser." A fun site to cruise, especially if you are feeling trapped by the August monsoon rains. Have fun!

3) www.citizen.org

Public Citizen is literally the consumer's eyes and ears in Washinton, D.C. The organization was founded in 1971 by a large group of people—one of whom was Ralph Nader—to fight for safer and less expensive prescription drugs, safer medical devices, cleaner and safer energy sources, a cleaner enviornment, fair trade, and a more open and responsive democratic government. This group was responsible for the recent exposéof the Firestone Tire safety issue coverup, probably saving many lives in the bargain. Public Citizen group has six basic divisions or subgroups: 1) Congress Watch, 2) The Health Research group, 3) The Litigation Group, 4) The Critical Mass Energy Project, 5) Global Trade Watch, 6) Buyers UP, a home heating oil cooperative group. This is a very informative site for a plethora of issues concerning us all, and especially concerning the generations to come.

4) www.riversearch.com

Simply stated, riversearch.com was formed as a cooperative internet marketing idea of the world’s best river outfitters, or so they consider themselves. With the plethora of directories on the net and their attempts to be all things to all people, they (riversearch) believe that the seekers and the providers are not hooking up in the most efficient manner possible. The designers have attempted to make the site as simple and cost effective as possible. The home page consists of a world map; by clicking on the region that you are interested in, a regional map appears. The regional maps display major water sources, highways, transportation corridors, and the best outfitters that guide and run watercraft on that particular watercourse. The next click will take you to to the appropriate outfitter for that area. To keep in constant touch with the site or for the most recent, comprehensive updates, dial up www.RiversearchNews. Bon Voyage!
