Now, while the editor is a cat lover, many people in Ester have dogs. A lot of them have black Labs. Dogs, like the rest of the local citizenry, are known and greeted by first name, expected to mind their manners, and not to eat the neighbor's chickens unless invited. Some of these dogs have received public recognition only after their long and well-appreciated lives were over, and an obituary was written for them. Certain elder and respected canine Esterites have reached levels of reknown such that they have been profiled while still alive in the pages of The Ester Republic: these are Ester's Poster Dogs. v. 9 n. 11: Cosmo v. 8 n. 12: WWPFS: Martyrdom of Tobias (front cover) v. 8 n. 11: Blomma (front cover) v. 5 n. 9: Tucker (obituary) v. 4 n. 4: Lucille (obituary) v. 3 n. 6: Fancy v. 3 n. 5: Casey v. 1 n. 12: Alex v. 1 n. 7: B.J. v. 1 n. 4: Bruce v. 1 n. 1: Expo | ||
